Which highlights does your city offer throughout the Telemann year 2017?
At Bachfest Leipzig 2017, which will take place from June, 9th to 18th, works of G. P. Telemanns will be performed in numerous concerts. With „Echt Telemann“, a concert evening is dedicated to the composer in the St. Peter’s church of Leipzig. On June 11th, 2017, the „Magnificat C-Dur”, TWV 9:17, as well as the earlier works „Siehe, es hat überwunden der Löwe“, („See, it has overcome the lion”), TWV 1: 1328 (formerly BWV 219), „Gott der Hoffnung erfülle euch “ („God of the Hope fulfilled you”), TWV 1: 634 (formerly BWV 218), as well as the cantata „Der Herr ist König” („God is the King”), edited by Bach, TWV deest (BWV deest). The singers are Julia Sophie Wagner (soprano), Annette Markert (alto), Stephan Scherpe (tenor), Dirk Schmidt (bass), accompanied by the Saxon Chamber Choir and the Leipzig Baroque Orchestra, conducted by Fabian Enders.
