Which highlights does Hamburg offer throughout the Telemann festival year 2017?
The Telemann Festival (24.11.-3.12.2017) will be the highlight of the Telemann Year 2017. A number of national and international artists and ensembles will devote themselves to the varied oevre of the composer. Particular priorities will be Telemann’s relation to Hamburg and his love for France.
Also around Telemann’s death in June a variety of events will take place.
In addition to a scientific symposium at the University of Hamburg and an exhibition at the State and University Library, concerts of the NDR Elbphilharmonic Orchestra with its chief conductor Thomas Hengelbrock and the ensemble Barockwerk Hamburg as well as two church concerts at Telemann’s former domain, the churches of St. Michaelis and St. Petri, are being held. Numerous works by Telemann will be heard throughout 2017 in cantata services in the churches of Hamburg.
