Irrespective of Telemann, what should visitors not miss when visiting Eisenach?
Being Thuringia’s capital of the Reformation, Eisenach 2017 is marked by the 500th anniversary of the Reformation: As a landmark of Eisenach and UNESCO World Heritage Site the Wartburg, situated on a hill over the city, is part of the unconditional mandatory program of any visitor of Eisenach. The national special exhibition „Luther and the Germans” will be presented at the Wartburg from May, 4th until Novermber, 5th. Also, the 2015 re-opened Luther House, which has been provided with an extension building, should not be missed. In addition to the permanent exhibition „Luther and the Bible”, the special exhibition „Heretics, Divider, Teacher of the Church – Luther from a Catholic point of view, 1517-2017” will be shown form April, 30th until October, 31st. The agenda of the music lover should of course not miss a visit of the Bach House Eisenach.
The world’s largest Bach museum shows (amongst others) the special exhibition „Bach and Luther” from April, 19th until November, 5th. The nearby Thuringian Forest with the Rennsteig and the Hainich National Park, Germany’s largest contiguous deciduous forest with the canopy walkway invite the visitors for a longer stay in the region.
