Telemann in Frankfurt am Main

Irrespective of Telemann, what should visitors not miss when visiting Frankfurt am Main?
The Frankfurt Museum Embankment is one of the most diverse and densely museum landscapes in Germany. The Liebieghaus with sculptures from ancient Europe and old Egypt, movies, archaeology, communication and global culture in eponymous museums, ancient and modern masters in the „Städel”, contemporary works in the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Applied Arts, the Historical Museum and the Jewish Museum as well as the Goethe Museum, the Schirn Art Gallery Frankfurt and the Senckenberg Nature Museum include an architecturally and contentual unique ensemble with short distances to each other and which are all located in the city center. All these houses make Frankfurt Museum Embankment an exceptional place of discovering, experiencing and learning. This applies with the St. Bartholomäus Cathedral in which ten emperors were crowned and also with St. Paul’s Church in which the first freely elected National Assembly met in 1848 and which adopted the first democratic constitution for Germany one year later. In October, the Frankfurt Book Fair opens its doors. A variety of exciting readings, discussions and other cultural events take place throughout the city as well as on the fairgrounds on October 14th and 15th (public days). Especially recommended are the series „open books“ and „Literature in the Römer“ which are presented in different houses around the Frankfurt Römerberg. Also, the award-winning Frankfurt Opera is always worth a visit.
